Actually ramai, I'm a sucker for a good movie. Filem Malaysia to me ada yang bagus and definitely confirmed, ada yang hancus. Memang menyokong industri filem Malaysia, tapi selalunya tak sempat, hahaha ... apsal tak sempat? Baru saja nak tengok dah habis kat panggung, bukannya habis tiket, habis tayang!, copeknyo! Ada a few directors or story tellers yang betul- betul bagus, Yasmin Ahmad, Afdlin Shauki to name a few. These are the younger generation punya story tellers. Pernah dengar nama Zarina Abdullah, my favourite too. Khabir Bhatia pun, nicee ..... but generally as a fan, sedih tengok kualiti cerita melayu nowadays. Its gone from bad to worst.
While these new story tellers trying their hardest to capture a new angle, to breath in new soul in story telling, others came up with hancus film of the year which generally brings down to earth again our local movie industries. Bukan nya apa, siapa nak buang RM 10 for movies like " Sifu & Tongga " Aduhhhh ... Prof Madya Abdul Razak Mohaideen, mende tu! Apa relevannya cerita you ni. Apa ikhtibarnya, simply for entertainment?. I'm so very sorry, but I'm a fan, and believe it or not, I do have rights cause we fans play a very major part in our may I say struggling, small and surviving local movies industry.
Uwei Hj Shaari, Dato' Hj Rahim Razali, or even M. Nasir pada saya sudah terlalu bagus. These are the talented few. Siapa pun tak akan lupa, babak dalam filem " Cinta ", one man show Dato' Hj Rahim Razali talked about cinta, its was sooooo intense yet the message was delivered with grace and poised, first class acting! first class directing! Hands down! Saya berani bet, Prof Razak can't give that in his movies, its just not in him.
Saya bukannya menyebelahi mana- mana pihak, filem Prof Razak ada yang okay, Mami Jarum contohnya, kita gelak- gelak juga tapi it was a fine example of our complex Malaysian culture. Lady Boss, Cinta Fotokopi, Cinta Kolesterol, Kuliah Cinta dan etc. Aduhhh .... Prof Razak, minta tolong, apa cerita ni semua, pergi masuk panggung, kosong! A mild attempt in serious movie like Hingga Hujung Nyawa, just okay for me, but its just not up to par, jangan ambil hati Prof, prove to us fans, you can come up with better ones.
Shuhaimi Baba is actually one of our best, Selubong came out strong, then came Layar Lara, Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam, few of the local top notch. PHSM part 2 pada saya, a bit bercelaru, maybe too many kuda kepang flyers and the actors, aduhh .... maybe we talk about that later. Nanti kita sembang- sembang lagi. Sallam for now!
